holly golightly

i first heard of holly golightly when one of my friends saw broken flowers and told me to listen to this song, "tell me now so i know." it was great, and kind of sexy too.

then i overplayed the song and forgot about her, until today, when bryan asked me if i had heard thee headcoatees. i hadn't, so i checked them out, and discovered that holly golightly was in there. i remembered how much i liked that song and decided to find some of her others. "run cold" is by far my favorite. check it out--good female vocalists, REALLY good lady singers, are hard to find.

Hard to find? No they're not!! Don't sell the women of rock'n'roll short for hell sakes! I mean are you talking comtemporay singers, or in general? 'Cause really there are loads out there -- Etta James, Mary Weiss, Ronny Spector, Aretha Franklin, Cher circa Sonny & Cher, Suzi Quatro, Rihanna, Tina Turner, Ann Peebles, Janis Joplin, Grace Slick... ok, so only one of those is current, but I'm standing by my statement.

i'm standing by the fact that only 1/11 of those is contemporary and that the men of rock'n'roll seem to outnumber the women of rock'n'roll these days. maybe i'm just misinformed.
